No overlay lender for VA loan

My husband is a Navy veteran and our current home (Michigan) is a VA mortgage. We want to purchase a home to accommodate us and my elderly mother. Because of current environment my prior lender told me to get bent. We are 4.5 years into a Chapter 13. No late payments, nothing negative. But it would obviously require manual underwriting, and most of the lenders I've contacted won't do manual underwriting or entertain the thought because we are still in bankruptcy (although we bought this current house while in chapter 13).
