Check with your local town office as well. The second part of that is making sure you have a lender that will accept DPA. There can be overlays that don't allow them, requirements for 'minimum borrower contributions', etc. depending on the circumstances. (i.e. FHA vs. VA, 5% down vs. 20% down, etc.). I am local to MA and happy to help along the way. We also offer the MASS Housing program for lower down payment requirements and unemployment insurance, etc. No overlays for down payment assistance on FHA, etc. Call or email any time and I'll make sure you get the answers you need.
