Asking for my boyfriend who plans to apply for a loan

Hi, my boyfriend is in his first year in trucking and we want to know if he can apply for a home loan. We asked around and were told that he need to submit a years worth of paychecks since his income is unstable. What are our other options? by kayla412 from Sacramento, California. I've been lending for 15+ years. I've never heard or seen of any program that requires anyone to submit a years worth of paystubs. If he is hourly or salary, he is OK to apply right now. If he is self employed, 1099, or variable income, like paid per trip or mileage, then that becomes more complicated, and typically, he will need to have been in that job a minimum of two-years. At that point, we would average his income. My best advice to to speak with a licensed mortgage professional. Reach out to the local broker in your area. I lend in MN, WI, IA, ND, and SD.
