I've been working with a local lender for a month now and they don't seem to know how multifamily transactions work. I live in Detroit and was wondering if anyone could recommend an FHA lender who has experience with the multiunit side of things and who knows the ins and outs of FHA financing. TIA! by cooper737 from Detroit, Michigan. Nov 18th 2022

You have discovered a dirty little secret of mortgage lending... That about 75% of 'loan officers' are really just low level application clerks. The other 25% are experienced, licensed, people. You just need to find one of those. The 'company' itself doesn't matter. It's all about the Loan officer themselves. Typically they will NOT be at the big internet lenders or big banks, but rather are the small broker down the street. FHA multifamily isn't that big of a deal... But as an example, I just took one away from another lender that had no clue an FHA 4-plex had to be self supporting. Anyway, I lend in MN, WI, IA, ND, and SD. I can be found at FirstTimeHomeBuyer-MN.com. Cambria Mortgage, NMLS 274132
