It is allowed but the rules are different depending on which type of loan have now, and which type of loan you are trying to refinance to... and it's possible you might need to do an appraisal, again, depending on your loan product...if you haven't already, you should contact a LOCAL mortgage broker, not the local "Big" bank, and certainly not one of those 50 states internet lenders...By applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with numerous lenders, seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario. When you refinance, generally you may be allowed to use a co-borrower (co-signer). It will depend on many factors and subject to specific Lender overlays.
