No you can't, only a spouse can be added. there are loans that you can use your mom as a co signor on the loan. Call a local mortgage pro and they will give you the info on the two loans you can use a co-signor.

The answer is basically no. If your mother was going to live in the house with you and she is a veteran herself then she could co-sign. A spouse does not need to be a veteran but any other co-signer would need to be.

Hi Scott, not on a VA loan, but there are other options available depending on your qualifications and down payment available. Are you seeing issues qualifying on your own? The VA product offers many benefits if you can qualify for it.

VA does not allow co-signers.. you can however add your spouse, but generally that's it.. there are other programs out there that you can use your mom, but it really depends on what your ultimate goal is.. for the best lending options it's best you contact a LOCAL mortgage broker and apply with them. Do not use the local "Big" bank, or one of those 50 states internet lenders or nationwide lenders...By applying with your LOCAL Broker, you have an advantage because he's familiar with local customs and works with numerous lenders, seeking out the best loan terms for your particular scenario. Because he has lower overhead, he can offer you lower rates and lower fees than most of the larger lenders.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. Scott, VA Loans will only allow a co-borrower if they are your spouse, your fiance, or if your Mother is a Veteran as well. Would she be occupying the home with you? If so, then a USDA Loan would be an option, depending on how much you make and where you're looking to buy.Call or email me when you get a sec and I can go over your options with you.

With a VA loan you can only use a spouse as a co-signer. Have you looked into qualifying without your mother? Contact a VA loan specialist to find out if you qualify on your own.

The answer is no unfortunately. However there might be other loan options available to you where your mom could co-sign with you. I would speak with a local loan officer and have them go over all of your options. Best wishes, Sean

Yes you can use a non-spouse to qualify for a VA loan if they are an occupant, there is a specific way to do this and specific rules that apply. I will be happy to explain them in detail if you'd like.... I am a US Veteran and have been specializing in VA lending for over a decade.... Thanks John Schweer 816-412-3568
