i am going to be traveling and cannot handle the process myself. plus my credit is not as good as his. can he buy our house by himself essentially? he is not in the military, and he uses many of my va benefits, just not sure if he can get a va mortgage without me there by inawaco784623497 from Rifle, Colorado. Hi - I believe that since you're the veteran, you have to be the main borrower on the loan, though your husband can be the co-borrower. I wouldn't worry about your credit score though - most lenders can go as low as 620 or 600 for a VA loan. As for your traveling, a remote notary can typically be used to have you sign paperwork where ever you're traveling in. Hope this helps. I don't do loans in Colorado, but feel free to contact me with any further questions. Marty Stern
Unfortunately, you must be on the loan with your husband to be able to use the VA loan benefits. That being said, even if your credit is not as good, we may be able to help as we can do VA loans with credit scores as low as a 530.Mike TrenkleMK Mortgage Group LLC303-537-4539
I believe you could give your husband a Power of Attorney to sign the closing docs for you if you are traveling, but you do have to be the primary borrower and sign the intial loan application and a good bit of the approval would be on your credit history..However, as others have noted, VA is somewhat liberal on credit history. If you wanted to call and discuss the nature of your credit issues I can evaluate further your situation. Chris Neuswanger; "The Mountain Mortgage Guy" Avon, CO 970-748-0342
No, as the veteran you would have to be the main borrower and they would use your credit to qualify. However, there are programs for VA that allow credit scores below 600. It will just depend on your overall credit picture. If you have any questions I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have and review your options with you. 303-521-7169 or syoung@firstcal.net / Best wishes, Sean
