Do I need 2 years of work experience to qualify?

My wife and I plan to apply for a loan in a few months. I have been working with the same company for 3 years while my husband is with the same employer for a year and was doing contracting for 8 months. Does the contracting count? Do we need to show 2 years of employment to qualify for a loan? by mosses95 from Jonesboro, Georgia. Feb 9th 2022 Reply

Typically, lenders look for a full two-year work history, not necessarily two years with the current employer. Assuming your husband had employment before he was doing contracting work, it is likely he has a two-year work history and most traditional lenders will consider that history in their decision.
