Not sure if I need a closing agent. My real estate attorney said she'd help me through the mortgage process if she were also closing agent but that I need to hire another bank attorney to close. Is this true? by rgarton733 from Adams Center, New York. Apr 27th 2021
You need a title closer. I don't know what "help you through the mortgage process means", but in some states, it is common to close through an attorneys office. Other states it is common to use a title company. I don't lend in NY, so I don't know what is common there. I lend in MN WI IA ND SD, and we almost always use Title Companies.
