Do I need a lawyer to completely pay off my coop mortgage?

I sold some investment property and want to pay off my $300k loan. What do I need from the bank/servicer? What else do I need? Do I need to involve my coop board for any reason? Thanks. by kgbre_659_214 from New York, New York. Mar 12th 2013 Reply

Call your lender for a payoff.. They will add up to 30 days of interest.. if you pay it off before the 30 days are up.. They will refund you the difference when the check clears.. no need to contact your coop, however you might want to inform your insurance company that you no longer have a loan... they are required to send copies of your home owners insurance renewal's to your mortgage company, but it won't be necessary if it's paid off.... I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com

You can pay it off on your own. Oder your payoff from your lender, then pay it in full. In about 3 to 4 weeks you will receive extremely important documents from your lender, the most important is the stock release, which you need to keep in a very safe place, and the other is the UCC 3 filing, depending on your lender it will be a copy of what they have already filed or documents you will need to have filed. To my knowledge you do not need to involve the coop board at all.

You do not need a lawyer to pay off a mortgage. Follow the directions from your lender. Get a payoff with pay off date from your lender. Pay by certified check listing loan number and final payment, get a copy of the mortgage satisfaction for your records and be sure to provide a copy to the county clerk's office - get a certificate that the court has satisfied the mortgage.Caution - be sure to review all your financial options before satisfaction. Sometimes it is not in your best financial interest to satisfy the loan.Carefully review with a qualified mortgage planning specialist, Tax advisor, CPA. Be sure you know the pros and cons of what you are doing!John Schlobohm Mortgage Planning Specialist (914) 433-4646 jschlobohm@luxurymortgage.com

No lawyer needed. Just call and speak with your current lender, get a payoff and wiring instructions. Everyone here has given some great info to follow up on.

Contact your lender/service company, and request a written payoff, as suggested by several forum members.

Call you lender, get the payoff, pay the loan and ask when the will refund your escrows, if they are escrowed, You will be repsonsible to pay the Taxes and Insurance so call both those entities to have the statements sent to you.
