More than likely, it's hard money.. but try contacting a local title company and have them search the county records to see if any deed's of trust have been associated with the other units.. if so, then the lender's information will be right there.. Keep in mind that some lenders will not allow themselves to be exposed too heavily in one project.. If this building has 100 units and 8 are carried by one investor, then it's likely they will take on another.. but if there are only 20 units.. then they would have a 40% exposure to that project.. it's possible they are maxed out.. only speculating, but this is something that happens all the time. .
