Where can I obtain information on obtaining a home equity loan with bad credit? by Veronica Whitehead from Riverdale, Georgia. Dec 27th 2011
That's a tough one... But it really depends on what you mean by "Bad Credit".. Also, are you talking about a first position HELOC or a 2nd lien position? There's a lot of info missing to properly direct you to the right path, but best advice I can give you is to contact a local mortgage broker, not a bank, and apply with them.. they can look at your particular scenario and match you to the right lender based on your situation.. The answer to your question lies in how bad "Bad" is. My best advice is to contact a local community bank, or better yet a credit union. If your credit is not too bad, the credit union is probably your best bet. Most of the Big banks are more of the cookie cutter kind and probably won't be interested in helping you, even if your credit is just a little dinged. Good luck.
