I bought the house before we were married and now we'll be splitting the monthly payment evenly so she would like to officially be on the mortgage. Only thing I'm worried is my mortgage is with VA and she is a dentist. Never been in the military by kasenjeera78563816 from Coulee City, Washington. Dec 5th 2014
The home can be refinanced to add her to the loan. There is no other way that I know of to take care of adding a spouse to the loan. Please let me know if I can help you with this.Thank you
Dear Kasen :You can just continue making payments as normal get 1/2 the money from her , & I assume you will be filing a joint tax return so the interest deduction will show there.option 2: add her to the title ( the less expensive way to go) this way you can never sale or refinance with out her permission. she is NOT on the loan just the title.option 3: do a true refinance and she will be on the loan & title , and as long as you are married VA will allow a spouse on the loan with you. VA interest rates are low right now call me & i will give you a free quote.hope all this helps.Ellen Adams541-521-7192
As Lorne pointed out you can't simply add her to the mortgage without going through the process of refinancing. She can be added to the title for a small fee (see a local attorney or title company) but would not be obligated on the mortgage note.
12/5/2014Kasen - thanks for the posting ....the only way to add your spouse - would be to refinance to a new loan and include her as an additional applicant ..thanks Dave Skow WA MLO #278613 Eagle Home Mortgage2200 6th Ave #100 Seattle WA 98121W 206 714 9745 Fax (877) 412 2557daveskow@eaglehm.com www.eaglehomemortgage.com/daveskow
