I saw a question on this site as I was browsing which sparked an idea. How long to get a pre-approval letter, and do you need to do it in person? And do you need to do it in the state you live? or where you are going to buy? (In this case we live in DC and plan to move to MD).I know we've done it in person the last two times we bought, but both times were when we were flying out to the new location to shop for houses. This time, being more local, I'm not sure how it goes. Since now we've decided to try to buy before selling, we want to get a move on this (if we can get a deal with buying, then we can afford to sell our house for less than we had initially expected to). by KathyS from Washington, District Of Columbia. Kathy - there are many ways to get pre-approved and with technology we can get you pre-approved within minutes. In order to pre-approve you we would need very specific information. In order to review that information we could talk on the phone, you could email and/or fax it, we could meet in person (which is very easy as we are in MD near DC) or you can go to our web site fill out the information through our secure server. Let's talk - I can be reached at 301-728-5505 or www.mortgagelinkhome.com and click on the Loan Application button on the left hand side. I look forward to speaking with you today, thank you. Ellen
