i am a contractor in OR. and would like to get a va loan to build my own home is this possible

Most constructions loans they will not allow u to be your own contractor. You would need to name a general. To my knowledge there are no VA construction loans out there. You would need to do an interest only construction loan then when the house is completed you could refi into a va loan. Hope this helps Ellen adams 541-521-7192

Ellen previously pretty much nailed my answer. Construction loans are considered much more risky and 100% would be particularly hard to get. Typically 90% of the value of the home on completion is about the max possible. If you own your own land already we'll go to 80% of the completed value (going to 90% soon).

I would suggest you visit the link I am providing and then finding the local VA office in your area to get a referral to a lender that may be willing to provide Construction Financing as the VA only Insures the Loan and does not make loans.
