Possibly. This is a question you would have to ask the specific bank you want to get the LOC from. Some will say no, because they do not want to lend to people with a recent BK. But others may be more open. I would start with a local Community bank first, rather than the big guys. ~ Bert Carpenter, The LoansA2z team of NOVA Home Loans ~ NMLS 40586 ~ Licensed in California and Arizona ~ www.LoansA2z.com 888-889-9950
Not likely to happen.. you can check with your local banks or credit unions, but don't be too hopeful... Also understand that LOC's are based on your "equity percentage".. not how many $$ you have in equity.. for example.. if your homes value is $150K and you only owe $50K, then you have 67% equity.. if you have a home worth $700K, and owe $600, you only have 14% equity.. in both these scenarios you have $100K in equity, but they are two very different equity positions.. Today, unlike the past, most LOC's will only go to 80% loan to value, so in the first example, if you qualify, would net you a LOC of $70K, in the second example, you would not get a LOC since you don't have sufficient equity.. Bert is correct, I would ask the local banks first. The National Banks will not allow it
Agreed with Bert, will be very difficult with discharge only 1 year ago.
