I am 63, my husband is 59. We live in separate homes, but are happily married. Is there any way to get a reverse mortgage on the property I inherited with my name being the only one on the title? by mareau8597 from , New Mexico. Dec 4th 2013
For a reverse mortgage, you have to be 62 or older, so you would be on the loan, but your husband could not since he's not old enough.. You can probably get the loan, but understand you scenario would be under strict scrutiny.. The lender would require a letter of explanation, and your story would have to make sense.. Although I have come across this scenario before, I've never been successful in getting one approved. Usually because the lender is suspicious of loan fraud.. (buying or refinancing an investment, which is a high risk loan, but stating it's their primary residence, which is a lower priced loan). I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. William J. Would you be able to accomplish at least part of what you want by taking cash out of the home you inherited and paying off other debt? You could possibly rent that property to make the mortgage payments plus have cash in hand. Just a thought
Hi, I work for a Direct lender here in NM and would be glad to speak with you in detail about this and other options that may be more sensible. Feel free to call my cell this evening (505-350-3745) or email me, charlie@pinnaclecapitalnm.com. Thank you, Charlie Sparks, NMLS# 195031
