Just talking to a loan officer does not obligate him or her to giving you a good faith estimate. The law requires a GFE to be given to a prospective borrower within 3 business days of making application for the loan. If you actually signed an application for a mortgage loan and did not receive the GFE with 3 business days you can log a complaint online with the banking dept of your state and directly with HUD on their website. Each of those agencies also has phone numbers listed for complaints to be made by phone.
