The lender who initially approved me for a loan sold it to another lender. The escrow had not closed, and my agent was only made aware of it yesterday. How can the lender do that? by cindym5295502 from , California. Oct 5th 2021
I need more information to be sure, but it actually sounds sounds very normal, in that you probably have been actually working with a mortgage broker, who collects your information and documents, assists you with programs, etc., and then shops you around to an actual lender. The actual lender will underwrite, fund, and close the loan in the actual lenders name, not the brokers name. So you may have worked with ABC Company, but the actual lender could easily be XYZ Company. This will be disclosed all over the initial LE (Loan Estimate) you signed in the beginning, and all over the final CD (Closing Disclosure). I lend in MN WI IA ND SD.
