Lender hesitant to provide a break down of payments

Hi, first time homebuyer here. I recently had my offer accepted and I asked my lender to show me a break down of payments. He got bothered by my request and told me buyers don't usually ask for that stuff. I felt like they just wanted me to sign all the mortgage documents to get things over with. The finally agreed to email me what I asked. Did I do the right thing? Isn't it normal to ask for a list of payments? by et896 from Atlanta, Georgia. Dec 12th 2022 Reply

Not only should they, they are required to as part of your initial Loan Estimate. Sorry you had this experience. This brings me to remind people that the lender you pick is very important, and something few people actually think about, other than calling the local bank. Understand that somewhere around 70% of mortgage loan officers are unlicensed, and simply registered. the other 30% have an actual mortgage license. knowing this now, do you want to work with an unlicensed person or a licensed person. While i don't know, odds you are working with an unlicensed loan officer who is just really bad at his job. I lend in MN, WI, IA, ND, SD.
