My fiance and I would like to buy a house and looking for best option!

I'm wanting to buy a house here in Florida. My fiance and I relocated to the area 5 month ago, I didn't work for last yr but he has work for the union carpenter for 19 yrs but took a layoff to do the move, I have good credit but no job history, he have good job history but very poor credit can we still buy a house?
