If I've never had a credit card, or any debt, could I still get a mortgage? Or would I need a cosigner on the loan? by jessic_394_328 from Atlantic City, New Jersey. Nov 30th 2011
There's a lot of information missing... but on the surface, you can still get a mortgage if you don't have any traditional credit. For example, who do you pay rent to? That can be used as a credit reference. Auto insurance, utility payments, and phone payments can all be used as credit references. Even if you make regular deposits into a savings account... this can be used as a credit reference. Best advise I can give you is to contact a local mortgage broker, not a bank and apply with them.. they have numerous lenders they deal with and should be able to match your particular scenario with the right niche lender. William is correct. I am a mortgage broker in your area. Please feel free to contact me or my partner Benny to discuss further. I would need some more information to see what you will qualify for but you can get a mortgage if you do not have traditional credit. Look forward to hearing from you.
