I'm working with a realtor who has been really great thus far, so I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he's saying the lender is holding up the financing process by not giving a commitment letter. i asked a close friend who worked in mortgage (although he's been retired for 2 years, fyi) about the issue. he said the realtor is being ridiculous. now we're at a ridiculous stalemate. is there anything i can do to clear up this commitment letter issue? are they necessary? idk if i should dump the realtor, the lender, or both. by calitraska7846591 from Wheat Ridge, Colorado. When was your complete loan application submitted? Is there a date on the contract that a commitment needs to be produced by? What does your lender say?
You should be in direct contact with your lender.. and if you are, you don't ask your Realtor to give you something your lender should be giving you.. if there is a delay in getting a commitment letter, there must be a reason for the delay.. call your loan officer directly and ask him / her yourself.. HiI'm a local CO lender and this sounds quite strange? If you have completed your loan application than your lender should be able to issue a pre approval letter. If the lender cannot issue it, than he/she should be in contact with you requesting whatever additional information is needed. If you have completed a loan application and supplied your income and asset information your lender will give you a pre-qualification letter. If you are under contract and have supplied all of your information to your lender and you are waiting on underwriting you may just need to wait for that process to go through.
