There are no rules which force a lender to lend to you.. At the time they did your loan, they allowed MFH's.. but now they don't.. This is typical.. As far as finding another lender willing to do a HARP loan on a MFH.. yes.. they are out there.. but because MFH's are a more risky property type, expect to pay a slightly higher interest rate than what you see advertised.
