How to find the best agent to see our home.

Are there a set amount of fees that real estate agents can charge? I am selling my home and looked into using coldwell banker and Remax real estate agents and there was a substantial difference in their costs to sell our home. by burniske211 from Fair Oaks, California. Jan 14th 2019 Reply

Listing agents and their companies can, and often do, set their commission and fees differently. My humble opinion is avoid the higher end agents, as they are not worth the extra costs, and avoid the low end agents, as their lack of service isn't worth the discount. That said, cost alone is just one factor. Experience matters. Good luck

I would definitely do my homework and research the agents in your area. A strong agent that has a strong selling background is worth their weight in gold! If you choose to go with a newer, less experienced agent, I might be more inclined to ask for a reduction in commission paid. Always do your due diligence! Good luck!

Listing agents can adjust their commissions,,, some agents will give you a breakdown of "All" the costs associated with selling, not just the commissions.. other agents will only show you "Their" costs of selling.. it's important you compare apples to apples.. Look at all the fee's so you have a good idea of what your net will be after the sale. Also understand that not all agents are created equal.. Some are very creative in getting your home sold.. while others just throw it in the multi listing service and nothing more. Sadly, how much the agent charges has little to do with the service they provide.. get references, and search for the agents past listings and see what the Days on Market time's were.. This will give you a better idea on who you might want to considering hiring.. I often see people trying to save 1% to 2% on their sale, but because the agent was terrible.. the home sat on the market for months while everything around them sold in weeks.. So, I would suggest finding the best agent who specializes in y your area, and then see if you can save something on the listing fee's. Best of luck.. Look into Redfin too. where you either have a 1-1.5% fee or get a rebate back. Ask the agent if they use virtual reality as it is a big thing among millenials when viewing a home.
