I'm selling my 1st property and this is under 1st time buyer program. Can I re-qualify as a new 1st time buyer in another state? by m.sandersons822 from Aliso Viejo, California. Aug 26th 2019
Most to all first time home buyer programs are Federal first and State second in benefits. If you show property ownership on your taxes then the answer is no.
Also most 1st time home buyer programs require a borrower(s) to NOT own a primary residence property for the last three years in order to be one of the qualifications.
No.. you cannot be a first time home buyer twice.. Lending guidelines consider you a FTHB if you have not owned a home in the past 3 years. So, if you don't buy for 3 years.. then you would be considered a FTHB. Understand there are very little benefits anymore to being a FTHB.. 3% down on conventional is available to non first time home buyers. Certain states have grant programs for down payment asisstnce geared towards FTHB's, but typically, those come with higher rates and fees.. not the ideal scenario if you have your own down payment.. But if you want to know for sure, reach out to a local (to where you are moving) loan officer and see what they have.. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona.
