I had to short sell my home 1 year ago. I had a conventional mortgage, if that matters. The short sale resulted from financial hardship due to extenuating circumstances, most notably my husband's passing. Are there any lenders who will consider extenuating circumstances and approve a mortgage after a short sale sooner? Thank you
I'm sorry for your loss, jadenmercier78462185. As for obtaining a home loan, the answer is yes, as long as the extenuating circumstances can be documented. In your case, it sounds as if that can be accomplished. To know for sure what your options will be, I recommend a full underwritten approval (by an actual underwriter with a tbd address--not just a loan officer saying "sure" or an approval by a computer). Extenuating circumstances is subjective so obtaining full approval before you shop will allow you to do so with confidence.
