Although some lenders may operate differently, A borrower and the Lender must come to an agreement when to 'strike the lock'. In my case I have a conversation with the borrower about where pricing at this moment, and help the borrower understand the risk vs security of floating or locking. Because pricing can change in the blink of an eye, I keep you on the phone while I execute the lock. In today's lending environment, most lenders allow locking via a pricing engine or pricing portal. Once I receive confirmation that the lock has been captured, you are advised and LOCKED. You will then receive an updated LE or Loan Estimate via email in the next few minutes or hours, depending on the lender. ~ Bert Carpenter, The LoansA2z Team of NEXA Mortgage ~ NMLS 40586 ~ Licensed in Arizona, California, Georgia, Oregon, and Washington.
