A female claiming to be with Bank of America, my lender, called my office at around 11:35am today 2/27/19. She stated that I need to renew my credit card information over the phone for my auto draft. I said I’ve not received invoice or renewal notice from Bank of America, and expressed concerns regarding giving out credit card information over the phone, because there was not enough information for me to verify the legitimacy of the caller and her request. I suggested upon receiving formal invoice or renewal notice, I’d be happy to submit credit card payment via an encrypted online payment portal, or mail in a check. She simply replied “okay” and hang up on me before I finished asking additional questions. The unprofessional call made me feel uncomfortable and questioned if she was truly from Bank of America. have there been known incidents like this in the lending industry as of late? by juliano508 from Aliso Viejo, California.
