VA loan for someone other than myself

I was in the service for 22 years and my son is buying a home with his family. He is not a militaryman but I thought I'd try to help and maybe get the loan in my name so he could go VA. I do not want to seem underhanded..I am probly going to be moving into the house within a couple of years because of my disability. But I'd like my son to get a better deal by going through me. by craigastonelectri... from Macon, Georgia. Oct 1st 2013 Reply

Unless you move into the house immediately and purchase it as YOUR primary residence, you cannot use VA benefits to co sign for someone else... .. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona. If you or someone you know is looking for financing options, feel free to contact me or pass along my information. 480-287-5714 WilliamAcres.com

I'm sorry, but the children of an eligible veteran are not eligible for the home loan benefit. You would have to apply for the home financing using your VA benefit and live in the home as well.Warm regards,Kim Jones-ZweigSenior Mortgage BankerFidelity Bank Mortgage3490 Piedmont Road, Suite 750Atlanta, GA 30305p: 678.468.4046 | f: 678.829.0612e: kim.jones@lionbank.comw: www.kimdjones.comNMLS# 545217

You would need to purchase the property as a primary residence.

But it now and move in with him now. That's the only way to do.

Your son can use your VA loan benefit. You would have to be purchasing the home as your primary residence. If you are going to be living in the home within a few years anyway you may want to consider just moving in right away and purchasing it under your name.

The VA loan is for veterans to use to purchase a home to live in. As others have stated, you must move into the home as your primary residence. You can add your son to title, and he can live there also.
