On February 1, 2017, I was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease and deemed by the military 100% disabled because of this terminal, incurable disease. How do I apply for loan forgiveness for my VA loan? by hoganhomestead4701 from Cameron, Missouri. Feb 6th 2017
First of all I am sorry you have to go through this incurable disease, and thank you for your military service to this country. I am assuming you are referring to getting your loan forgiven such that neither you nor anyone else has to continue to make mortgage payments on your home? I have experience with someone in my family getting forgiveness of a student loan due to being a 100% disabled Veteran, but have not come across anyone who has gotten this with a mortgage loan. However, you should go to VA.gov and it is not too difficult to find your way to someone who can answer you question. I think you end up just needing to let your loan servicer know of your condition and you wish to apply to have the loan forgiven.
