I was in the navy from and plan to use my VA loan to purchase a home. In the last few years I have worked all except for the last year. I quit because my husband made enough for us to live off from the navy. Very recently we got divorced and I moved to another city. I just got another job and the pay is better than my last job from over a year ago. They are both office work. I have an excellent credit score and very little debt. I wanted to know if I would be able to buy a home and get qualified for a mortage w/ the less than 2 years of consistant job history b/c of my year gap inbetween jobs. Thanks for any information you can give me. by beckye1125 from Eustis, Florida. May 1st 2011
The job gap will not be an issue with a letter of explanation in regards to your divorce and that your were a housewife. I can connect you with a licensed loan officer that knows VA loans if you are interested.
I would be happy to assist, what state are you looking to buy in?
Hi! Thank you for your service in the Navy. As long as you are not self-employed or a contract (1099) employee and the type of work is similar as you said it was then only one paycheck would be needed. If you are paid commission only, self-employed or starting a new career in which you have no experience then the 2-year rule would apply. I offer VA financing in 50 states - please call or email.
