We filed bankruptcy about 6 years ago and did not reaffirm the loan. Now we have been approved for a modification. The papers they sent stated ...the escrow and a secure note agreement. If I sign these papers. Does that mean I'm committed to the mortgage again.

You are committed to the new terms you agree to. It appears that you will be reaffirming the loan at the new rate and term.

Sounds like you are getting offered a pretty good deal, depending on the terms of the modification.

You should probably have an attorney or at the very least a mortgage/real estate professional look at the documents prior to your signing.. but in general, if you sign new agreements past your BK where your loan was included, but never re-affirmed, then you would be obligating yourself to the new terms.. .. I'm a Broker here in Scottsdale AZ and I only lend in Arizona.
