What can my husband do to keep his house after our divorce?

Hello,My husband and I are getting a divorce and our home has a 1st and 2nd mortgage. The first amount is what the house is appraised at today, and the second mortgage is for the additional amount that is was appraised for 2 years ago. My question is this: neither my husband nor I can afford to make the house payments by ourselves. I have checked with the mortgage companies about lowering our payments, but so far, no luck.
