This is unexpected and such a mess but I really want to close before we legally separate because I probably won't gett approved on my own and I want to have a proper home for me and my son. by moonlapse562 from Cameron, Ohio. May 10th 2021
People separate and get back together all the time... But you need to have a conversation with the other party before closing on what is really going on. For example if you close and separate then divorce - who gets the house? Both of you are legally responsible for the loan, and I know if I was in that situation, I wouldn't sign. Good luck.
If you can afford the payments on your own, (affording the payment is different than qualifying for the payment), and this is not a court ordered separation, then as long as the other party is OK with going forward with the loan, and agrees to allow you to keep the home, if the separation becomes permanent, then you might be OK. If they do not, then you may be stuck on a loan for a home you can't live in. ~ Bert Carpenter, The LoansA2z Team of NEXA Mortgage ~ NMLS 40586 ~ Licensed in AZ, CA, GA, IL, OR & WA...
