Just today, Harry Reid submitted an amendment that would extend the Homebuyers Tax Credit from June 30 to September 30. "google" this and stay on top of all updates. Hope this helps.

You are in California, there is already a tax credit available. You can get $10,000 for purchasing a new home (never lived in before) or $10,000 if you are a first time buyer. Check my profile and read my blog for details.

Unfortunately, it only applies to people who had a signed purchase agreement by April 30th. The closing deadline was originally June 30th and now they are extending it to September 30th. So this does not apply to someone who does not have a signed purchase agreement yet.http://www.totalmortgage.com/blog/mortgage-rates/first-time-home-buyer-tax-credit-closing-date-to-be-extended/4178

To clarify, the California tax credit has nothing to do with the federal tax credit that has expired. The California program program has almost 50% of the allocated $200,000,000 in funds still available and the program does not expire until 12/31/2010.

FTHB in CA may receive up to $10k in 2010. I don't know about other states. You didn't mention what state you are referring to. .... Happy funding, Rudi
