2 Tips For Searching For A Home In The Winter Posted by Carlo Sanchez

For buyers looking for their new home during the winter months, they can run into certain challenges they wouldnt have to think about during the summer. But, just like anything in Utah, buying and selling homes doesnt stop just because it gets a little cold out. In this blog, read about 2 tips for searching for a home in the winter.

If everything were to freeze to a stop as much as our weather during the winter, nothing would get done for about 4 months out of the year in Utah. So, we bundle up and go about our business as though there werent snow, ice, and subzero wind chills all around us. Thats what gives Utahan's bragging rights. Imagine the bragging rights you would have if you could say you moved in the winter! Here are some tips to make it easier:

Leave your boots at home Another thing that makes us Utahan is taking our shoes off at the door. Be sure to wear shoes that are easy to slide on and off. While looking at homes, you wont be doing much trudging through the snow as taking your shoes on and off. So, make it easy on yourself and choose your home searching footwear wisely.

Search in the daylight. People take time off of work for many things: dental appointments, vet appointments, or even to wait for the cable guy. Buying a home is likely to be the biggest purchase youll ever make; however in the winter it also gets dark at 4:30. Be sure to prioritize and schedule time out of your day so you can see your future home during the day.

Buying a home in the winter can have a big reward. Since youre not out there searching for homes when everyone else is, youre in a buyers market! During our colder months youre less likely to run into a multiple offer situation, making your bargaining power that much stronger. So, bundle up, schedule time out of your day, and dont be a afraid of a little snow; it could pay off!
