While purchasing your first home is an exciting experience, there are many obstacles to go through once the home is officially yours. From unpacking to interior designing, making the house you bought turn into your own comfortable home can be accomplished by taking the below tips into consideration.
Unpack smartly
To start, simply organize your labeled boxes into the rooms they will soon be unpacked in. Before ripping the tape off of every box, it's a great idea to unload the essentials first. Bathroom toiletries and basic kitchen utensils should be set up early on so you will not have to pause your unpacking to get take-out or dig through boxes to find soap or toilet paper. Door mats and rugs should be unpacked as well to avoid bringing in dirt. To avoid sleeping on the floor or assembling a bed late at night, try to have your bed set up so you can get a good sleep after a busy day. By unpacking your pet's bed, food tray, and toys, you can avoid any "acting out" that might come about when they are moved to a new place.
Deep-clean everything
Before setting up the larger furniture, it's smart to clean the floors, cabinets, window blinds, and sinks. Even though this house is new to you, there is likely going to be dust. The boxes and tape that were used for packing might have brought some dirt in, as well. Adding furniture pads to your heavy furniture will prevent damage to hardwood floors and carpet.
Design your new home to your liking
Now that you have unpacked and cleaned, it's time for the more fun part: Interior designing. This step is what will turn your new house into your very own home. New paint in bedrooms and accent colors are sure to spruce up your new living space in no time.
Moving can be a stressful process, but the more you plan out exactly what needs to happen, you will be comfortably settled in quickly.
