The February Jobs report came back positive Friday, sending bond investors in the opposite direction and mortgage rates up across the board. The trend continues today.
175K jobs were created in February, notably above the 163K expected. Revisions to the December and January reports were also positive, showing about 25K additional jobs. Unemployment crept up from 6.6. to 6.7%, but so did hourly earnings, by 0.4%. Earnings have steadily increased by 2.2% over the last year.
No major economic reports today, but look out for Retail Sales, the Producer Price Index and Consumer Sentiment this week. The Treasury will be auctioning $64 billion in 3 and 10-year notes as well as 30-year bonds starting Tuesday through Thursday.
